PhD vs. PsyD
Research doctorates and professional doctorates are different qualifications.
Purpose
A PhD centers on original research and a dissertation. A PsyD and similar professional doctorates center on applied, supervised clinical or professional training.
Naming
This site keeps the institution's official degree title and never relabels a professional doctorate as a PhD. Other countries use titles such as DClinPsy or DPsych, which are not assumed to be equivalent to a US PsyD.
What to check
Funding, accreditation for the exact program, internship or placement structure, and whether the qualification meets registration requirements where you plan to practice.
